Flowerovlove opens up about her unconventional beauty routines
Singer-songwriter Joyce Cisse, aka Flowerovlove, is known for her stunning afro and natural Beauty. In a candid chat with Cosmopolitan UK, she shared her unconventional approach to self-care and the products that keep her looking and feeling her best.
Black beauty is a family affair
For Flowerovlove, black Beauty is more than just a physical attribute - it's a celebration of her heritage and a connection to the powerful women who paved the way. 'Black Beauty to me means family, it means motherhood, it means Africa,' she explains. 'It also means the smell of cocoa butter.'

Low-maintenance hair care
When it comes to her signature style, Flowerovlove takes a holistic approach. She rarely washes her hair, instead letting it bathe in its natural oils. And when she does wash it, she eschews traditional shampoo for a rosemary and hibiscus water treatment, homemade by the artist herself.
'Wash day for me is really fun because it's when I finally get to release the stress and the tension from my head, because our hair holds so much energy and stress,' she reveals. 'Hair is a story for me, which is why I don't wash it very often, because I like to hold that energy.'

No salon drama
Flowerovlove has no love for the hair salon, having had a particularly traumatic experience in the past. 'The worst experience that I ever had was this hairdresser just combing through my hair so aggressively when I had a lot of knots in it. I'll never forget this. I turned around and slapped her,' she confesses.
As a result, the singer has taken matters into her own hands, preferring to maintain her coiffure at home. 'I just really don't fk with people touching my hair like that,' she asserts.
Natural and affordable
Despite her commitment to natural Beauty, Flowerovlove does splurge on a few key products. Her go-to skincare ingredient is coconut oil, which she swears by for its simplicity and affordability. 'It's under £5 and the only thing I use,' she declares.
She also recommends a lymphatic drainage massage, which she credits with being 'life-changing.' Regular pampering sessions with her therapist help her maintain a sense of balance and well-being.
