Margot robbie channels kylie: a chanel 25 reunion & gondry magic
On a sun-drenched Los Angeles soundstage, Margot Robbie brought a dose of Aussie cool to a Chanel campaign, recreating the iconic music video for Kylie Minogue's "Come Into My World" – a full-circle moment orchestrated by director Michel Gondry.
Robbie revisits a fever dream
The collaboration marks a significant reunion for Gondry and Minogue, who makes a fleeting appearance in the new video. Gondry, recalling their original 2001 shoot in Paris, expressed his long-held admiration for the pop star. For Robbie, the project held personal significance, as Minogue's "Fever" tour was her first-ever concert.
Robbie, who admits she can’t sing, embraced the role by channeling Minogue’s signature energy. “I was just thinking, I get to play Kylie without having to sing! It’s actually perfect,” she shared. The campaign also provided a chance to revisit archival Chanel pieces, a recurring theme in Robbie’s work, including her recent role in Wuthering Heights.
The Chanel 25 handbag, available in multiple sizes and colors, was a particular favorite for Robbie. “I love that they’ve made it in three different sizes and a number of different colors,” she said. “I’m such a practical person, I love it because I can just squeeze so much stuff in it, but it still looks chic.”

From barbie to wuthering heights: a chanel legacy
Robbie also discussed her experience wearing Chanel in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and the extensive use of archival jewelry in Wuthering Heights, where she sported over 50 costumes designed by Jacqueline Durran.
Beyond the campaign, Robbie revealed Pachinko, a recently released film, as her favorite of the year, praising its unexpected blend of genres. The film's subtle storytelling resonated with her, a welcome change from the usual Hollywood fare.
The collaboration underscores Chanel's enduring relationship with Hollywood, showcasing its adaptability across genres and eras – a testament to the brand's timeless appeal.
This isn't just a handbag campaign; it's a celebration of creative connections and the enduring power of a perfectly executed homage.
